The Concept Takes Shape

SIMEROS was born from the vision of its founders, Fabiano Bertoni and Facundo López, who identified the potential of applying academic knowledge to industrial applications. This year marked the conception of a Brazilian engineering company specializing in subsea equipment for the O&G market.

2009

Foundation and First Steps

Focusing on mapping opportunities and client prospecting, SIMEROS was officially registered on October 6, 2009, in Porto Alegre, RS. The dedication of the founders defined this initial period.

2010

First Engineering Services

After its registration, SIMEROS began delivering small engineering services in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, primarily outside the O&G sector. Despite limited resources, the founders remained committed to entering the global O&G market.

2011

Entry into the O&G Sector

With a technical-commercial plan, SIMEROS secured its first contracts in Rio de Janeiro for O&G companies. These initial projects steered the company toward its mission, paving the way for future innovations like subsea pipeline end fittings.

2012

Strategic Reinvestment

Reinvesting 100% of its revenue, SIMEROS focused on business expansion. In partnership with TMSA, the company submitted a proposal to the INOVA PETRO program, funded by FINEP and in collaboration with PETROBRAS, to develop subsea pipeline end fittings.

2013

Recognition and Growth

This year, SIMEROS was selected for the INOVA PETRO program. Simultaneously, it began testing for subsea pipeline and umbilical manufacturers, while also being awarded a TECNOVA-RS grant to develop wire break detection technology for flexible pipelines and subsea umbilicals.

2014

Expansion and New Initiatives

In 2014, SIMEROS officially launched activities under the INOVA PETRO program and the Cooperation Agreement with PETROBRAS, conducting tests on flexible pipelines and securing its first international contract for umbilical qualification in the Gulf of Mexico. The company expanded its capacity, allowing for greater focus on business development.

2015

Infrastructure Development

SIMEROS began the design, manufacturing, and assembly of its own full-scale testing laboratory for subsea pipelines. The lab, entirely developed by SIMEROS’ engineering team, went from concept to the first full-scale test in just 90 days. The year was also marked by the registration of important patents under the INOVA PETRO project.

2016

Facing Challenges

As the company navigated the complexities of the subsea engineering market in O&G, SIMEROS redesigned its strategic plan, identifying the critical need for specialization in subsea pipelines and seeking recognition as a technical authority in the market.

2017

Building Expertise

In response to the needs identified the previous year, SIMEROS engaged highly qualified professionals with global recognition, forming a Technical Board essential for advancing the company’s ambitious plans.

2018

Tackling Emerging Challenges

With a qualified technical team and a highly equipped laboratory, SIMEROS was called upon by PETROBRAS, GALP, and SHELL to collaborate on understanding the SCC-CO2 failure mechanism in flexible pipelines and developing risk mitigation initiatives, such as the proprietary PIPEACOM technology, while also supporting the development of new pipeline technologies like TCPs.

2019

Infrastructure Expansion

SIMEROS moved to a larger facility, tripling its size to accommodate growing commitments. The company continued working on critical projects, such as the dissection of flexible pipelines removed from service, while expanding its workforce and capabilities.

2020

Navigating Complexities

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, SIMEROS maintained operational efficiency, fulfilling commitments, and ensuring project continuity. The company’s efforts were recognized by clients, securing future prospects.

2021

Delivering Results

This year was marked by the execution of backlog activities, field re-terminations of flexible pipelines using SIMEROS end fittings, and the successful installation of PIPEACOM for production oil service at depths exceeding 2,300 meters deep. In the same year, SIMEROS and GALP were awarded the ANP Technology Innovation Award for the PIPEACOM project.

2022

Gaining Traction

In a year characterized by business traction, SIMEROS expanded its facilities in both Cachoeirinha-RS and Rio de Janeiro. The company also reviewed and formalized crucial internal processes and redefined its strategic plan to focus on the development of subsea pipeline technologies.

2023

Portfolio Expansion

Adopting a multipurpose and multidisciplinary approach to technology development, validation, and qualification of subsea equipment, as well as pipeline integrity, SIMEROS expanded its portfolio and attracted major offshore O&G operators as new clients.

2024

Strategic Repositioning

In 2024, SIMEROS underwent a strategic repositioning, driven by emerging challenges and the ambition to grow sustainably while delivering real value to its clients. In addition to maintaining its traditional services, the company launched the REVITA PIPE project and expanded its operations into the subsea inspection market.

2025

Expansion and Continuous Innovation

Continuing its growth, in 2025, SIMEROS strengthens its presence in the subsea inspection market and expands the scope of the REVITA PIPE project. With ongoing investments in technology and innovation, the company reinforces its position as a reference in the industry, consolidating strategic partnerships and developing new solutions for the challenges of subsea engineering.
